Krystin Arneson – freelance writer

1. Tell us about your current occupation and how you landed such a fabulous job.⁣

I'm a freelance writer who covers a big range of topics for a wide range of publications, from fashion, beauty, and lifestyle shopping roundups to travel, culture, and wine features. I used to be an editor for a city magazine in the US, but realized I wanted to be my own boss—so I quit, built up a freelance base, and left in 2016 for Europe.

2. What's your best advice for PR professionals?

I always appreciate it when mailing lists can be super-tailored—as someone who covers a huge range of subjects, being able to receive exactly the info I need (i.e. brand sales only versus product launches and gift guide info) is super-helpful.

3. What's a fun fact about you?

I've been living abroad in Berlin for five years now!

4. Tell us about your favorite nonprofit and why.

The CJA — it recognizes that climate change is an intersectional issue and works for climate justice.

5. What's your favorite meal, movie, or vacation spot?

My favorite meal that I've had is probably some grilled octopus and a glass of local txakoli wine at the end of a 8-mile hike with my mama through the Basque Country.
