Adam Schubak – partner manager, Hearst Magazines

1. Tell us about your current occupation and how you landed such a fabulous job.⁣

I’m a partner manager at Hearst Magazines. I’ve had a lot of random media jobs over the years but writing was always my main goal. I was originally hired here as a Quiz Writer after some minor success producing content for Buzzfeed’s community section. The position has evolved over the years into what I’m doing now, which allows me to produce content for all of Hearst’s brands and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

2. What's your best advice for PR professionals?

I love working with PR folks but I guess my advice would be to know who you’re pitching to. Sometimes I get pitches for things that are so far outside of what I typically cover. I always enjoy getting an email from someone who actually read one of my pieces and decided to pitch me because of that rather than just a blind pitch hoping it fits into something I might be working on.

3. What's a fun fact about you?

I attended the first Bonnaroo Music Festival.

4. Tell us about your favorite nonprofit and why.

MSK Kids – A very close friend of mine lost her daughter to cancer in 2020. It’s a horrible disease at any age but particularly devastating when it happens to someone so young.
