Five Minutes With Kamari Stewart.
1.Tell us about your current occupation and how you landed such a fabulous job.
I’m currently an associate editor at Shop TODAY where I spearhead our gift guide content and manage a home cleaning series called “How Often Should You…?” My journey with Shop TODAY began as an intern in the fall of 2019. It was my last semester of college and I was lucky enough to get to spend a few months with the team. After graduation, I worked in production on another team at NBC for about a year but ultimately found my way back here in March of 2021. It was amazing to see how much it had grown from when I left to the day I returned and we continue to do so at impressive rates even now.
2. What's your best advice for PR professionals?
Be authentic, be concise and, most importantly, be patient. We get hundreds of emails a day. I may not respond to all of them but I do my best to read them all at some point or another. Sometimes that’s a week later, sometimes that’s a month later. And since we get so many emails, we want to know the most important information upfront instead of trying to decode the point from several blocks of text.
3. What's a fun fact about you?
I am left-handed! But my favorite fun fact is that I started to learn Norwegian during my freshman year of college (thanks, Duolingo!) because I was obsessed with a Norwegian drama. I don’t remember much of the words now, but I do still know one full song in Norwegian.
3. Favorite meal, movie, or vacation spot?
My favorite vacation spot is Aruba! The weather is the very definition of perfect and everyone is so happy there, it’s contagious.
